Having your own swimming pool is a luxury quite a few Australians don’t have. For those of you who have their very own swimming pool, then you understand and appreciate the benefits it holds. After a hard day at the office or on a building site, you just want to relax and slipping into your pool is a great way to relax the body and mind. Our pools are not just somewhere to cool down, but they are also the place where we have parties and invite our friends over for some fun. The pool and the area around the pool is the perfect setting to have a few cold ones and enjoy a BBQ.

For us Aussies, having a pool means a lot of time invested taking care of it and a lot of money to have it in the first place. However, no matter how much we care, the pool and the pool area will begin to show signs of wear, and a pool that was current ten years ago, may not be current now. Designs have changed, tiles and colours have changed and lighting has changed. This is when we start to think about renovating and repairing our pool and pool area. There are a number of reasons we should renovate our pools and here are some of them.

  1. Leaking – The pool might have a leak or leaks. Sometimes you find yourself having to top up the pool with water due to evaporation, but when you find yourself having to do it more regularly, then it’s probably likely that you have a leak.

  1. Old Equipment – Your system is outdated and not performing like it used to. The pool itself tends to outlast the equipment used, and so you may have to look at replacing the pump and filter with more modern equipment. Swimming pool technology has moved on considerably from ten years ago, and in order for your pool system’s plumbing to keep working efficiently, you may have to upgrade.

  1. Out Of Date – Maybe the design of your pool was very trendy, ten years ago but currently it’s not in fashion. It may be time to totally renovate and change the shape of your pool completely and make it fashionable again.

  1. Wear And Tear – The pool and the pool area are very popular areas of the house and consistent use over the years, means that things like tiles, lights and decking are beginning to show real signs of wear. Cracks start to appear and walking on the tiles both inside and outside the pool, is beginning to hurt your feet. This is a sure sign that you need to replace them with new ones.

  1. Fun Features – When the pool was first built, maybe you were on a budget or maybe when you bought the house, the pool was already installed. You have a little bit of spare cash and you would like to add some features to your pool, to make it more fun for you and your kids. It may also be lacking some essential safety features for your kids and this is of concern to you.

There are a number of reasons for pool renovations, but it is always a good idea to do it. It will not only make your pool more fun to be around, but it will also increase the value of your home.
